• In addition to his passion for politics and history, Alphinaud is a charismatic and diplomatic young scholar. Although he is young, he is an excellent public speaker and negotiator. The words alone of Alphinaud are enough to sway the masses. When a conflict arises, he will often use words rather than violence, unlike his sister. Nevertheless, Alphinaud is not above using force when diplomacy fails. Before drawing blades, Alphinaud will always look for another way to resolve tensions before using force.
  
  
• He's a natural-born leader with a strong sense of integrity and professionalism that allows him to lead with relative ease. Alphinaud cares deeply for his comrades and even more so for his friends. While he did come across as a self-important charlatan at the beginning of his journey, Alphinaud eventually proved himself worthy of his grandfather's legacy as he worked to undo the harm he caused by his own hubris.
  
  
• Alphinaud always tries his best to protect his allies, even at the cost of his own life. Both his desire to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and his determination to save Eorzea reinforce his self-sacrificing nature. He's a dependable leader that others can trust. Alphinaud always follows through with his plans and typically keeps his promises. He's a hard worker through and through.
  
  
• Alphinaud is a brilliant tactician with a penchant for finding and exploiting one's weaknesses for his own benefit. Alphinaud has used such tactics on and off the battlefield, but typically saves such scheming for navigating the political sphere. Even though Alphinaud is no stranger to combat, he's quite aware of his physical limitations and tries to compensate for them through careful strategy. Unlike his sister, Alphinaud is more of a healer than a fighter. He typically plays a more supportive role in combat and happens to be one of the few Scions with a healer's touch. It also should be noted that he's neither as physically strong as his sister nor as athletic, judging by the fact that the poor boy can barely swim. His intellect is truly his core strength.
  
  
• While Alphinaud has many good and positive qualities, the boy sometimes has his moments. He can be quite arrogant at times and a little too chatty at others. Alphinaud does his best to keep his ego at bay, but sometimes he can let his achievements go to his head. However, he doesn't seem to mind indulging in mindless gossip if the topic catches his fancy. He can be quite a troublemaker at times too, but he doesn't do so maliciously.
  
  
• If there's one thing that could be said about Alphinaud, it's that he knows when to admit he's wrong. He learned this the hard way after suffering a great loss due to his own vanity. The boy acknowledges that he used both the Crystal Braves and even the Scions themselves, as mere pawns for his grand political schemes to save the realm. His delusional sense of grandeur nearly cost the lives of everyone he knew, even his own friends. He discards his hegemonic goals for the sake of bettering himself to become someone worthy of praise and admiration. While Alphinaud's perception of the world remains rather black and white, he strives to overcome such limitations by learning and listening to others rather than just spouting his ideals.

  » ACADEMICIAN
  While Alphinaud fancies himself as some sort of "Academician", he's actually a Scholar in the making. While he does possess scholar pursuits, the Scholar class in FFXIV is an offshoot healer class that is wedged between healing and fighting. Reminiscent of the classic White Mage and Summoner classes, Scholars wield powerful magics from their mystical tomes that allow them unprecedented magic with the aid of a fairy.
  
  However, Alphinaud differs in this by wielding a Carbuncle in battle rather than a fairy much like a traditional Arcanist. Alphinaud seems to be like this odd Arcanist/Scholar mix with certain capabilities of a White Mage as well. He's more of a healer than a fighter, but he can certainly hold his own as long as he has his Ruby Carbuncle with him.
  
  » ARTISTIC ENDEAVORS
  Despite his healing ability, Alphinaud is quite an accomplished artist as well. This tidbit about Alphinaud is brought up initially in Stormblood thanks to his life-like sketches of both Gostetsu and Yugiri. His brilliance with a pen is further elaborated upon during Shadowbringers when he's investigating the region of Kholusia alongside their companions. Once he reaches the city of Eulmore. he's hired as an artist by the wealthy Dulia-Chai and her husband, Chai-Nuzz. Instructed to paint a portrait of the wealthy heiress, Alphinaud's talent is noticed by none other than Vauthry.
  
  » THE TINKERER
  Alphinaud might boast a higher amplitude in magic, but the youth also possesses a budding interest in machinery thanks to his friendship with none other than Cid nan Garlond, a genius engineer hailing from Garlemald. While Alphinaud has much to learn about engineering in general, he's apparently astute enough to help repair the broken Aetheryte crystal at the Doman Resistance's main hub. His understanding of how the aether works stems from his own research on the matter, but this proves that Alphinaud has a mind for technology, no matter how bizarre.
